Joe Wertheimer has
been a Sculptor and Conceptual Designer for thirty years. Prior
to that, Joe was a Production Designer on various commercials and
films in Hollywood, CA.
Joe and his family moved to Palm Springs, CA in 1990 and he has
been creating and developing projects out of his studio there ever
since. His talents have taken him around the world, where he has
worked many interesting and challenging projects including The Palace
of the Lost City Hotel in Sun City, South Africa. There he sculpted
18 African animals, life-size and larger, as well as hundreds of
architectual details on the walls, ceilings and columns for interior
and exterior portions of the project. At Atlantis, Paradise Island,
Bahamas, he sculpted numerous pieces for the largest marine habitat
in the world, as well as exterior pieces for the Mayan Temple
water slide.
Most recently, Joe sculpted two life-size figures of The Madonna
and St. Francis, as well as the original of the Bighorn Sheep for
the Bighorn Institute's Path of the Bighorn. Joe was also Designer
and Sculptor of a 140' long by 12' tall mural for the City of Duarte,
and he designed and sculpted five 16' by 12' panels for The Chop
House Restaurant in Palm Springs, CA.

- Hollywood Casino, Shreveport, LA, where he designed and sculpted
four 4' by 7' alto-relief panels;
- Potawatomi Casino, Milwaukee, WI, where he designed and sculpted
two 5' by 11' Native American-themed panels depicting
the hunting seasons;
- Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium, Las Vegas, NV, desiging
and carving major architectual elements themed on the ancient
Cambodian temples at Ankor Wat;
- House of Blues, MI, designed and carved twenty
bas relief panels of jazz and blues musicians including Bonnie
Raitt, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Eric Clapton;
- Palm Springs Air Museum, Palm Springs, CA, researched,
designed and carved an 8' tall by 440' long bas relief honoring
the heroes of World War II's Pacific and European air battles;
- Caesars Palace Hotel, Las Vegas, NV, Created
the exterior terrace design which included a fresco and sculptural
designs for the Penthouse Suites.
